I told the sales associate and she reassured me that it was easy alterations, so I kept it. I know I should have followed my guts and made them return it to designer. It’s too late now, I’m not here to blame anybody, I just have to deal with it.
Today I went to alteration shop and the lady quoted me for $400 to alter dress only to make it fit me, the lenght is good, if I want for bustle and cups, it’d be extra $. It’s a heavily beaded Lazaro dress. She said it is 2 sizes too big and the whole skirt has to come off. She told me exactly what I thought before that there was something wrong with the size.
I haven’t fluctuated in weight since high school, which I finished 10+ years ago. I came home to measure myself, I’m the same as on the contract. The size label is the same as they ordered for me and my measurements fit into size chart. The dress itself though is 2 inches too big in bust, waist and hips. So I don’t know whether they sewed the wrong label or the designer does it intentionally or what happened.
So I called the salon, they told me all stupid stuff first that sizes vary, weight changes. They told me to come in to show the dress and they’d recommend me what to do. Well, the boutique is an hour and a half drive from me. So I told them I’m not coming for your recommendation, I need a solution. After a long negotiation, the store manager agreed to cover the side alterations. So I made an appointment.
Sorry for the post being long. I feel terrible, I don’t want to be bridezilla. I just need your honest opinions and advices. Do I have any rights in this situation? Thank you
